definitions of various "types" of christians

Recently in the Methoblogosphere, we have tried to define what we mean by “evangelical” and why we might not be rightly considered “evangelical.” As I’ve thought about the conversation (thanks to Jason and Henry, by the way, for their thoughtful offerings), it seems to me that we may be on better footing by consistently referring to what particular bodies, be they denominations or multi-denomination conferences, have issued as their doctrinal or theological statements. With that said, I offer links to the following entities:

The United Methodist Church

The National Association of Evangelicals

The Lausanne Covenant

The National Council of Churches

More later, but it seems to me that engaging statements of faith, practice, and covenant, we’ll be less likely to be dealing the moving targets of tag words like evangelical, liberal, conservative, moderate, progressive, etc.
