gk, children at christmas time, christmas music

Last night’s A Prairie Home Companion, the radio variety show, had a great News from Lake Wobegon segment (the monologue by Garrison Keillor) about children at Christmas time. In it, he contends that children are the great conservatives and traditionalists of Christmas celebration. Older people are great rebels and progressives in this area, but kids will insist that everything be done exactly as it has always been done. I thought his take rang pretty true to life.

Since is takes up to a week for the show to be available online, I’ll post that particular show’s link later. Abby and I saw the Prairie Home Companion movie the other night and enjoyed it too, though it’s probably better received by the already initiated.

One other treat was musical guest Jerry Douglas, the man when it comes to the dobro. He also plays with the great Alison Krauss & Union Station, with whom I first heard him.

Speaking of Christmas and music…What’s your favorite Christmas album? One getting the most play this year?
