I’m collecting my thoughts on the occasion of my first Annual Conference (annual regional United Methodist business meeting for my non-UM readers) in which I am eligible to vote for General Conference delegates (national/global UM business meeting held every four years) for a post I aim to share soon.
Before I get that up, I wanted to mention that I’ll be continuing my annual practice of reading Henri Nouwen‘s In the Name of Jesus: Reflections on Christian Leadership throughout the week. I have benefited tremendously from doing this over the past few years. We Methodists aim at “holy conversation” and “holy conferencing.” That’s a great thing about being a Methodist pastor. But, nonetheless, we find ourselves missing the mark and Nouwen’s simple and profound text on leadership that is truly Christian has been an excellent addition to the week’s experiences and helps me keep my footing while negotiating the terrain of Annual Conference.
I do aim to journal through my reading once again and will make every effort to share that journaling, at least in some meaningful part, here on the blog. It will likely be after AC is over though.
