The Wesley Study Bible is here and I’ve got mine. The sale price of $24.95 is still good until the end of February (when it presumably jumps up the publisher’s price of $39.00).
There will be plenty of solid reviews showing up in the blogosphere that I will link to later.
For now, I’ll give an initial thumbs up to the project, led by general editors Dr. Joel B. Green and Bishop William H. Willimon. The biblical study notes for each book engage the text and Wesley’s interaction with it in his sermons and notes. Also included are comment boxes on “Wesleyan Core Terms” that cover key concepts in Wesleyan theology and practice of Christianity written by scholars of Wesley’s theology, and insets on “Life Application Topics” that offer a Wesleyan perspective on practical concerns arising throughout the text. They are tightly written (read: succinct) and engage the contemporary Christian with a Wesleyan understanding on the practical teaching of the text.
